Structure Glycine is one of the 20 standard amino acids. Having 2 hydrogen atom in Alpha carbon makes this amino acid the only amino acid which is not chiral.

Glycine Synthase(Glycine decarboxylase)
Through action of mitochondrial enzyme called glycine synthase, glycine is degraded to ammonia and carbon dioxide.
Biosynthesis
Serine hydroxymethyl transfrase converts serine to glycine.
