Molecule of life
DNA is molecule of life. DNA or Deoxyribo Nucleic Acid is a supra macromolecule composed of just 4 nucleotide(building block). cells either prokaryote or Eukaryote store their hereditary information into their DNA. it's structure contains two strand of poly nucleotide which form a "double helix". these strands make hydrogen bond with each other and this makes them more stable.
According to Central dogma which is proposed by Francis crick, DNA is transcribed into the RNA and then translated to protein.
Structure
B DNA structure
Numerous structure have proposed for DNA. but three of them are relevant in studies:
B DNA
Proposed for the first time by James D. watson and Francis crick is the most prominent DNA structure in vivo, specially in high humidity. contains 10.5 nucleotide per turn.
A DNA
This structure is seen in low humidity condition, and in RNA DNA hybrids.
Z DNA
Z dna has a zigzag like backbone and with more length in compare to other structures. it is proposed that this structure has regulatory roles in the cells.
